I want to thank all of you for coming to the Tournaments. If you wish to voice your comments please do it on the MMFL Forum
The 10U at White Bear had 43 teams. The members of the White Bear Fastpitch Association did a great job providing concessions to all the fans, and the maintence crew from the White Bear Schools Recreation Department worked on the fields from before 6AM every day to after dark. It was a great job for the little players. Congratulations to Mankato Peppers Blue at A and Waconia Widcats for winning the B Division.
The 12U at Eagan had 62 teams, the Eagan Fastpitch Association always does a fantastic job, and the city maintenance people kept the tournament one of the top in the country with some of the best facilities in the Midwest. The Stone City Sharks from the Chicago area ended with first place in the A Division, and the Cary Crush from Illinois also won the B. So much for just having local teams!
The 14U tournament in St. Paul was a tribute to facilities that have been providing Fastpitch use for many years, and having 51 teams made us use two complex locations with Rice and Arlington backed up by Dunning 3 field complex. Again, the St. Paul Umpire crew and the City maintenance crews worked hard for all players. We had quite a group of A teams including the winners from Sioux Falls Fusion Silver, to Stone City Illinois, with Smitties from Canada to our own Wayzata team rounding out the top 4. Prior Lake and New Ulm headed up the B Division.
Rice Creek Fields in Shoreview along with the Mounds View Softball Association have one of the top locations for Girls Fastpitch Softball in the nation being a multimillion dollar complex built for Girls Fastpitch. Lexington Memorial Park only a mile away is a facility deep in tradition with it's 3 lite fields. Again a big thank you the Mounds View Softball Association, along with the Shoreview City crew and Pat Mahr working for the kids at Lexington. The Minnesota Sting won the A division over many very good teams, and NWD Chaos won out at the B division, included in the 33 teams attending.
With 189 teams attending, all tournaments were finishing up late Sunday, but everyone earned the titles. We continued with 4 day tournaments with the winners getting 8 to 10 two umpire games at 12, 14 and 16U. Also, the $100 per team entry fee for all attending goes to the host association to help with the costs of working on the fields. Thanks for coming, I hope you had fun.
